Last night my fiance & i went to have roti canai & coffee at a nearby mamak restaurant. It was about 3.00AM.Almost all the tables were full,99% with men;malay, chinese, indian, indon etc. Most of the time the restaurant was always half full & we can find an empty table easily but this few week we have to share with others.Other stalls were also full.Between 2 to 3am,the crowds keep coming. Most of them came with friends & few of them came alone. Some of them were having fried rice or maggi soup or other heavy food with either hot or cold drinks. Some of them just eat roti canai, like us.But there were who came just to have a glass of their favorite drink.
But all of them came for one main reason;watching football match live on tv.Now is the UEFA Juara Liga2 season.I just don't get it,why can't they just watched the same match at their own house? Is it may be they don't want to disturb others who were sleeping as the match was on early morning?Or may be they can "lepak" with their friends here or may be they can watch tv & eat at the same time.Or may be bcoz' they don't have astro at their home,so they have to come here as the match showed only on astro.
One thing i don't understand is their madness. Why do i call madness? They can stay up until early morning just to watch the most well-known sport especially among men;football.May be some of us heard of "football fever"during world cup or euro cup? Most of these 'mad' people were coming to work with sleepy eyes. Most of them just took mc bcoz' they were too sleepy to work.Others came to work but ended up sleeping at their workplace.ALl bcoz' of football. From this, came a say;eat ball, sleep ball (mkn bola, tido bola).During these season, mamak stall, restaurant & other food courts were full with the enthusiasts.
I'm not a football fan but i'm not against it.I tried to like it but it's noteasy as i don't understand the game rules. It's no use of liking something if u don't understand the concept & its rules.I know my fiance is one of those hardcore 'mad' people. He used to play football for his school, district, state & even country while he was in secondary school. He could stay up until morning just to watch the match.Sometimes he joined his friends at the stalls. Most of them gathered there bcoz' it's more thrilling & exciting to watch it with the crowds & they don't have to wake up their sleeping family with the noise.I understand it bcoz' my father & 4 brothers are football fan but they watch it at home.I can hear they shouting & cheering while watching it.I can imagine the noisy & the disturbance.
As i can adapt myself very well in any situations & surroundings,i played deaf with the noise.I admit sometimes i felt annoyed & disturbed during our supper. When the ball kicked into the goal, simultaneously we can hear the screaming "goal!" from all the stalls. They were automatically shouted together at the same time as if they were programmed like that.During the match, the restaurant were like market;people were shouting, talking loudly, laughing & making a lot of noise.I just couldn't understand, how come they can stand it;with the noise, the heat & the smoke from cigars.
May be for a non-fan like me who prefer peaceful, serenity & calm surroundings,i chose to stay at home. But if my fiance insisted me to accompany him once again,it's better if we watch it at home with no crowd.I don't mind his shouting as his snore are worst than that..But for the people who loves the 'stadium' environment, they can 'lepak' at the stalls.Apart of watching the match & meeting friends, they can have something to eat & drink.I'm sure the stalls' owner were delighted.More people means more money.
Like me, even though my eyes were not at the tv but my stomach was full with roti canai & coffee-o.I can sleep soundly after that.& i even can spend some romantic time (?) with my beloved fiance. That's what i call,to throw 2 birds with one stone.
p.s. For men & football fans out there,i'm sorry if i hurt ur feeling by calling u 'mad people'.What i mean is mad people but with brains.Get it!No heart feeling please!
